Why train strength?
Training has usually been dichotomized into: strength training and aerobic training. These modalities can cause interference with each other, if good periodization is not carried out, however, both generate very healthy adaptations. We are going to list and explain some of the benefits of strength training. The first of them is related to mobility, falls, age and quality of life. Our seniors are prone to sarcopenia (loss of muscle mass), and this causes an increased risk of very dangerous falls when combined with osteoporosis. Strength training also has positive effects on cognitive function and plays a very important role in survival and recovery against different diseases such as cancer and diabetes.

French Contrast
Currently the importance of certain skills is known such as; the ability to sprint, jump, change direction and the ability to make explosive gestures; in intermittent profile sports. To improve these abilities, plyometric exercises and heavy lifting have usually been used, however, it is interesting that both training sessions are always performed in isolation. This is why in recent years French Contrast Training is gaining popularity within these sports. This methodology combines the complex method and the contrast method, and tries to benefit from the post-activation potential (PAP). Everything indicates that this method is effective in improving the aforementioned capabilities. However, caution must be exercised when prescribing it, depending on the neuromuscular intensity of the task to be performed.
